Consciousness, sense and understanding.

In our time, educated people tries to figure out what consciousness is and they discuss it lively. But can human consciousnesses see human consciousnesses from the outside and scrutinize it that way? It’s not just about universality after the thing, but in the thing (Aquinas), not just about how the thing is seen from the outside (Kant), but more about the man who sees the thing and about how that man is in himself. Then it is relevant to use terms like the soul, like Platon and Descart, that is psychology. And use the term self, ego, as in Freud’s psychoanalysis. And of course it is relevant with evangelical Christianity.

There has been plenary debate about it on youtube and very many try to explain the consciousness with what we sense. Some believe that the most fundamental thing is to feel and taste, by physical touch. That’s the case for microbes too, even if they don’t have a nervous system like us. Yes, attempts have been made with a colony of single-celled animals, where the poison has been laid out in one place and food in another place. Then it turns out that they don’t go back to where it was poison, but goes back to where there was food, so they learn and remember. But how that memory is represented, we don’t know. We believe that the plants and such small microbes are not aware of that they exist, while larger animals are aware of that they exist and of the environment in which they exist. But the amoeba was now so conscious that it knew where the poison was and where was food. We can now at least conclude that where are different levels of consciousness.

Yes, humans have both consciousness  and subconsiousness and are of course most conscious with  the consciousness. We are thinking with the  brain, the spinal cord get information through the nerves, make decisions and send orders through the nerves. For the spinal cord, this can happen automatically, without the signals going up in the brain. For the part of the signals that go up in the brain much of it also happens automatically, in the central parts of the  brain, i.e. without us being conscious, without us thinking about it. In addition to that there is communication trough the hormone system, mostly to the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus, which are central in the brain.

By studying brain damage and scanning the brain, they have found out where the different functions are located. The  limbic  system is a central part of the cerebrum and is placed over corpus collosum, seen from the side they are formed like “C”, with the opening down, one in the other. Corpus collosum sends information between the two brain-halves. The limbic system regulates respiration and blood pressure and has implications for sexual behavior and emotional reactions such as fear and aggression.  Hippokampus  is part of the  limbic  system, we have one in each temporal lobe. It is important for short-term memories and learning, consolidation of facts and orientation. The cerebellum is important for balance, coordination and regulation of movement.

In this brain activity there are so obviously different degrees of consciousness, what we are least aware of, happens most automatically. We can decide to go for a bike ride and then we notice that we breath faster and that the pulse goes up. We decided to ride a bike and did it, we were conscious of that, the other things came as a consequences. We can exaggerate breathing or try to reduce it, deside to breathe more with the diaphragm, but usually we breathe without thinking about it. The activity of the cerebellum automaticis automatic then. But the activity of  hippokampus  we are more aware of and can choose and decide what to think and do. So cerebrum is the place for our consiousness.

What is new now is that they imagine that our thoughts and memory, our whole mental activity is the wave function or at least it is coded by it and is represented by it. Microtubules  are some strands in the cells and they are so thin that they may get quantum effect. In classical mechanics, mathematics is applied directly to the physical nature, so we can work out what will happen, if only we have enough information and use it right; nature is deterministic. In many cases, like in the living nature, it is just to calculate what is likely to happen. But in quantum physics it’s different. If we have found the formula for the wave function, the determinism is given by it, even if we don’t see it. So nature is calculatoric and in this way it is deterministic, as if it calculates how likely it is that something will happen when the wave function collapses. It’s as if nature is making a choice and we couldn’t know it in advance, but since we knew the wave function, we could calculate the probability of what was going to happen. But then seem to us like the nature also calculates it and so it is calculatoric.  According to  Roger  Penrose, our subconscious and automatic mental activity, for example in the cerebellum, thus can be calculatoric. But it is not so easy to explain our mental activity in the cerebrum in the same way, it seems that our consciousness with our free will, is not in the same way calculatoric. It may be because the collapse of the wave function is of greater importance here. But we must admit that the collapse of the wave function does not take time. Then it also becomes difficult to understand our own mental activity.

When well educated people were asked what consciousness  is, many of them began to talk about what they experience through the nerve system. What we feel inside can be hunger and thirst, and occasionally we can feel that the intestines move and bring the contents forward. If we have a lot of bodily activity, we breath faster and maybe even get pain in the side. What we else feel inside is mostly pain for some reason. Outside, we sense much more. When objects are located on another, there will be temperature equalization, the atomic structure need not be changed, so there is no collapse of the wave function. But if there is a human lying on a surface, then it feels the substrate on which it is located, for wave functions in the nerves collapse. So we sense what is around us by the collapse of the wave function, at least in our own nerves. The collapse of the wave function occurs instantaneously, no time is spent on it, it means that the wave function of the elementary particle acquires a new shape, but all the time it has a wave function. And we sense, think and have mental activity all the time. So what else but the wave function can the consciousness  be?

Creation and salvation, the Christian revival.

The Bible says that God has created all things by his Word, so it is the most fundamental “item” that all consists of. Then it also says that the Word was from origin, the word was with God and the Word was God. In him was life and life was the light of men. God’s Spirit reveals it to us, so we get to experience it. Thus, it also tells us something about our consciousness.

He who said that light should shine in of the darkness, he has also let it shine in our  hearts.

2KO 4,3 – 2KO 4,7 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”* made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. [*Gen. 1: 3] 7   But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

It refers to the history of creation in 1 . Mos.1:

1MO 1,1 – 1MO 1,5   In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was* formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. [*Or possibly <became>] 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. And there was evening, and there was morning – the first day.

The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. It is also in our hearts, the light that shined in the darkness is also shining in our  hearts. I understand that the sunlight is used symbolically for the light in our hearts. There was still so much cosmic dust in the inner solar system and gases in the atmosphere, that the sun was not yet visible, but the light began to shine on earth. It is used symbolically about our spiritual life in communion with God that is spirit, as we see in 1. Mos.2 . Here it is told that the earth was dry and lifeless, but then God let a well of water give water to the soil. Then he created the man from the wet soil and breathed the breath of life into his nose, so that he became a living soul.

Gen.2,5-7.

When a human or animal that has blood circulation and respiration is borne, it starts breathing, then it becomes conscious, because it gets more oxygen to the brain. This is used symbolically both on the creation and the Christian revival. But now Christ is the last Adam, who is from heaven and who for us has become a life-giving spirit. He gives us spirit and life from heaven and awakens us to life in communion with him and the Father.

This well that is spoken about in 1 . Mos.2, is essentially the river system of Mesopotamia, it soaked up the field and then God created the man of the wet soil and blew the breath of life in his nose, so he turned into a living soul. The well is used symbolically about the source with the living water and I believe it is so fundamental, so it gives life to both body and soul. I claim and believe I experience it that way myself. It is the well of salvation and with it God cares for both my body and my soul.

JER 2,13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

JER 17,13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water.

JES 12,2 – JES 12,3 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” 3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

God witnessed about his son. The Christian revival, the enlightenment and the science. What everything consists of and what is the consciousness?

Jesus is God’s Word, in Him is life and life is the light of mankind. God is light and he has witnessed about his Son, Jesus Christ.

JOH 1,1 – JOH 1,8   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3   Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood* it. [*Or <darkness, and the darkness has not overcome>] 6   There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

1JO 5,5 – 1JO 5,12 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6   This is the one who came by water and blood – Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the* Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. [*[7, 8] Late manuscripts of the Vulgate <testify in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. [8] And there are three that testify on earth: the> (not found in any Greek manuscript before the sixteenth century)] 9 We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

All right, God is spirit, and he has witnessed about his Son, so we shall come to believe in Him and have eternal life through faith in Him. By believing that God woke him up from the dead, we become righteous to God and by acknowledging that He is Lord, we are saved. So the method is different than in science and it’s probably not that strange, because it’s about something else.

When we accept the Word in faith, we are enlightened and awakened to life. We can say that there are universals that are before the thing, where the thing is ourselves and then it turns into universals in that thing. The thing in itself (Immanuel Kant) is no longer just the thing in itself, for we have entered into communion with God, we are in Christ, we look up to him and see the light and are enlightened inside. God does His work inside us by His Word and His Spirit. Then they can talk about  universals after the thing and talk about how they perceive the thing. Has it changed? There is now, of course, a significant difference between a stone or a wooden stick and a human being, humans can think, speak and choose. If it has received Jesus, it should be able to think and speak better and claim what it believes in, thinks and says is truth.

When scientists  research something, they have found out much more about how it is inside, it consists of atom and molecule, they consist of atomic nucleus and electron. The atomic nucleus consists of proton and neutron and they consist of quarks. Then they have found freely flying neutrinos. Physicists are still searching for such small particles and wondering if these particles can consist of something even smaller. What is the most fundamental “item” that everything is built up of. Could it be the wave function in Hilbert-space or the string loops in the superstring theory, so the smallest “item” that everything consists of is invisible, like an idea? Yes, so maybe that’s what our consciousness consists of? But that now does not mean that a rock or a wooden stick is conscious. So what’s the difference?

Cultivate and protect God’s garden, cultivate the earth. Science and modern technology.

The man should cultivate and protect God’s garden, it concerned both the physical earth and the earth of the heart. Then it also applies to the idea-world and science. The method here is to use mathematics, construct experiment, observe, think and speak. Then it is essential that we do not affect what we observe, nature should be left to itself, while observing. Then we can use what we have learned to construct something new, for that we use applied research. Then we make something new, it’s transformed nature. This way we can make utilities to grow the soil with and that is still the valuable point, the vegetation is the nutrient base and it is valuable for us to make it fertile. We will cultivate the physical earth, even with physical work, we use force on the physical earth. But the purpose is good and the method is good.

But it is still about cultivating the earth of the heart and then God’s Word is the seed. When the Word by faith merges with us in our hearts, we are allowed to come into the rest of God (Heb.3–4). Then we are the seed that God sows in the world. We experience God doing His work inside us by His Word and His Spirit. Then we experience that He also does His work in the environment around us. So it turns out to be like Adam in paradise.

Yes, and then God created the woman of his sidebone, so she should be a help that suited to him. Thus she was made of the same as him, with similar properties. God had created him of wet earth and breathed into his nose, so he became a living soul. They were made of earth and should cultivate the earth, it tells us that it is about the physical reality, while living in communion with God that is spirit.

The objection that falls apart.

Traditional standard objection is that humans have become stupid and eval because of the physical nature, as if the physical nature is stupid and eval. It causes an unnatural distinction between body and soul, hearts and brains.

When Jesus walked here on earth it was demonstrated how it works. God was with him and did his work with him and through him then the grievances came against him and he was executed, despite the fact that he was without sin. But God woke him up from the dead and thus showed through the Holy Spirit he was the mighty Son of God. By believing it, we become righteous to God. God took him up to heaven and put him by his right hand, high above all other power and authority. So by acknowledging that he is Lord, we are saved.

Then we shall think this way, that by faith in Him we are crucified with Him, in baptism we are buried with Him, there we are also raised with him. Then we shall turn to Him and receive what He gives us from heaven, He gives us spirit and life, and awakens us to life in communion with him and the Father. We’ll know the powers of his rising from the dead. So that’s what makes the difference and it’s going to have consequences for our lives here on earth.

We see no difference between the body that went down in the baptismal grave and the one that rose from it, it has not resulted in any genetic change, that is not what is the point. So the physical nature is not necessarily eval, by determinism. The ancient evil nature is how humans are in themselves, separated from God. It is often called the natural human, but I would argue that it is not natural for man to live divorced from God, the natural thing for us is to live in communion with Him. When we reconcile with God on the foundation of the gospel, we experience God creating us in Christ, that we become new creatures in Him. God creates us in accordance with 1. Mos.2, for he is the same now. The source of the living water is as fundamental to us as the rivers that watered the fields of the Garden of Eden, the earth of which God created the man. The filling of God’s Spirit is as fundamental to us as when God blew the spirit of life in the nose of the man, so he turned into a living soul.

The working day and the resting day.

The Bible tells us that God created and then rested after all he had done. Likewise is Jesus’ work of salvation. At the fall of sin, men fell out of God’s rest, their sin divorced them from him, but with one sacrifice, Jesus took away the sin once and for all. God reconciled the world with himself by giving His Son, Jesus Christ, to let him die on a cross instead of us. It’s God’s work. God is perfect, Jesus is the Son of God, he is perfect, and his work of salvation is perfect.   With a sacrifice, He makes us perfect. He is the last Adam, who is from heaven and who for us has become a  life-giving spirit. The spirit and the life he gives us from heaven is  perfect, it is just to turn to him and receive in faith. The Holy Spirit  glorifies and reveals Him to us as our savior and Lord, then it is important for us to look at Him and continue to do so. For this is how we experience that God creates us to resemble Christ and thus He creates us in His image.

God does His work with us, by His Word and His Spirit. For us it means rest (Heb.3-4), for it is not we who do it, but him. That rest is the starting point for all service, it is God who equips us  and enables to serve Him. Jesus gives  us the water of life of mere grace, free, without the demands of works. By faith in Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit of mere grace. It equips us to serve him. So we’ll regard it as we serve Him with all our doing and all our work, even though there may be others who employ  us. The man shall cultivate and protect the garden of God, and his wife shall help him. But it’s God who enables us to do it.

By humiliating oneself before Christ, we gain harmony between body and soul, hearts and brains.

What else does God require of us, other than show faithful love….?

MIK 6,8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. By being straight-learning and straight-minded believers, we learn to think right, and then it shall also effect that we do right, show faithful love, and travel modestly with our God The latter is essential and worthful for us itself, for God inhabits the high and holy and with the one who is broken and bent down in the spirit.

JES 57,15 For this is what the high and lofty One says – he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

This we experience by bowing to Christ. By believing in Him and loving Him and loving each other, we experience that He reveals himself to us,  he and the Father come and take residence with us.

JOH 14,19 – JOH 14,23 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” 22   Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” 23   Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

At the same time as we turn to Him and look up to Him, we notice that the Holy Spirit lets us  know that He lives in our hearts, the Holy Spirit gives our hearts opened eyes, that we see Him. It may seem like two ways of thinking, that we think with the mind and we think with our hearts. Not so that we think it out, but we believe in Him and turn to Him and the Holy Spirit reveals Him to us and thus gives us good thoughts. It’s like we’re thinking both with the heart and with the brain and it matches, so we get harmony between heart and brain and between body and soul.

The Father gives his child a rest that is the starting point for all service.

Message in a church 12.11.2006:

I know exactly (how you feel) ……, so I want first of all to lift you up on my lap. I do not ask first of all what you can do for me, I do not require you to serve  me, I just want and long for you to have your head leaned to my heart, and be there on my lap, be there in my presence, it is this that is the resting place that is the starting point for all service, it is this that is the resting place where you can obtain new strength, here is healing for your wounded soul, here you can know the promise that I will give you by my hand, I lifted you – lift you in your inner being and I lifted you up and back to a life in dignity, for you are precious in my eyes. I did not take you on instalments, I paid all the price and it cost my own blood, therefore you shall also know that you shall have lowered your shoulders, you may be allowed to relax, be my child, I who have said through my word, see how much love the Father has shown us, that we shall be called children of God, and we are. You are my child, and as my child, I will care for you. Let me take care of my children and the work of my hands,” says the Lord.

And because you are a child, you also have part in inheritance law, not only have I granted you children’s rights, but I have also granted you inheritance rights. You are the heir to my promises, you are the heir to the heavenly home. But you shall know that even the glorious promises that apply to it—the glory that lies forward passed, when you shall once see me as I am and become like me, those promises shall be carefully fulfilled. But I have not only made you promises for what is to come, I have also made promises for your walk towards this wonderful home. And I have made promises that you are also the heir to, promises that apply, in the midst of the situation that can meet you in everyday life. When you feel the pressure, when you feel that the discouragement and worry will overwhelm you, then I wish, says the Lord, that you shall open your will, and then you shall read, both the old and the new, that you shall read it as heir. You shall read it and receive it, it is valid, says the Lord, for I who is a testator,I went to death, the will is valid, read it as the heir and let it lift you, and let what you read be my strong hand that lifts you up and gives you new courage. I who have made the promises that lie ahead, I have also made the promises that apply today. And you shall notice that this is how you shall be carried, like this you shall be lifted forward. And you’re going to throw at me what weighs on you. I’m not going to let you go, I’m not going to leave you. I am faithful all the way, all day, and all days, stay in my presence. Hallelujah.

Jesus gives me a  glorious and wonderful  rest that transcends my understanding.

Message 17.2.2013:

Yes, once again I have spoken to you, through my Word and by the Holy Spirit, and to awaken your pure conscience, that you shall look at me, I who am the originator and fullfiller of the faith, you shall look at me through all things, in all the relationships and happenings of life. For you have experienced  trials and you think in your heart, it does not use. But come to me, all who are struggling and hard to bear and I will give you rest.

I want to give you a glorious and wonderful  rest. A rest that you can’t understand with your human sense. But I will give you rest in your heart and mind, so you can trust me at all times, that I am who I have told me to be and I will lead you out of the difficulty. And you shall praise me, for I the Lord is the one who loves you, I am the one who has taken you up and I am the one who leads you. And when you look at me, you shall not go wrong, but you shall experience a voice behind you that says, “This is the way, walk on it.”

God revealed his salvation for us in Christ, for me and “Virtuella”  and later for me and “Reella”, so when he said he will give me a glorious and  wonderful  rest, I first thought of Virtuella  and then of Reella.

Jesus will add a new price to my price.

Jesus has said I shall praise him for salvation and rejoice in the Lord always, and he will give me what my heart desires. I understand that he will give me a saved woman as wife. He’ll add a new praise to my price. I praise him for being perfect and because His work of salvation is perfect. I can compare it to Descart who believed in something perfect. I expect him to give me a wife who also praises him for being perfect and that his work of salvation is complete and perfect. I imagine she is a biologist, yes, I still think of Reella.

Message 5.10.2014:

Yes, says the Lord, I have said in my Word, that I delight in you praising my name. Therefore, my child, you shall not hold back, but be bold and lift your voice and praise me and honor me for the salvation I have brought forth. And you see, I will put a new praise to your praise, says the Lord. Therefore, says the Lord, be  bold, praise me amoung the Gentiles, honor me, praise me, sing my holy name, and you shall experiance, that my glory shall fill you. Amen.

Message 12.10.2014:

Yes, says the Lord, I have said in my Word, that you shall rejoice and rejoice in my salvation. Rejoice in me, saith the Lord, and I will give you what your heart desires. Don’t be  busy with what’s around you, don’t look around, neither right nor left, but have your gaze on me,” says the Lord. Be  busy with what’s up there. I have said in my word, you are upright with me, then you shall seek what is up there. But one is necessary, says the Lord, it is to be filled with my Spirit, filled with my anointing and power in this time. For the evil one, he resists you. But with my power and my anointing, ye shall win more than victory,” says the Lord. For you see, the spirit that dwells in you, it is stronger than the one in the world.

Many are them these days, who look back and who lag behind on the road. Therefore, my children, ye shall cry unto me and pray for them, that they shall have new power and new courage, and I shall meet them again, says the Lord. For you see, there are many who are wounded, there are many who are in pain and suffering. But you, my children, you shall go out and comfort them. And ye shall help them along the way, for I have said in my Word, that ye who are strong, ye are guilty of carrying the weak. For in fact there are a lot of weak between my people. But I, the Lord, want  to call them these days and I, the Lord, will fill them with my anointing and power. And then the weak will say, I’m a hero. For in fact it’s only with my power that you can win.

Jesus has paid the price for me with his own blood, so I belong to him, therefore I will praise Him as my savior and Lord. He has also paid the price for a wife to me, so she shall also belong to him and belong to me as my wife. Primarely I praise him that he is my savior and my Lord and then I praise him that he saves her too. Then I expect that she will praise him for that too, foremost because she belongs to him, he saves her for eternity and gives her eternal life. Secondly, she thanks him for saving her as my wife. It now also means that I belong to her like her husband. For thus the Father loves us and cares for us as His children. If I get children with her, he also loves them and cares for them as his children. The central point is to turn to Jesus, look at Him, and praise Him as our Savior and Lord.
